We saw a lovely trainee vet Connie, she is an absolute gem. She is kind caring compassionate, she listened to everything we had to say and looked after our boy till the end. Amazing lady you are. Thank you
This is such a kind and caring practice. We wouldn't trust anyone else with our cats!
Friendly & caring staff. The young lady who saw my cat for his check up was thorough, kind & caring.
I am extremely disappointed and upset by my experience with Gatehouse Veterinary Group regarding a stray cat, GemGem, who I have been trying to help.
I paid approximately £125 for GemGem’s consultation and treatment after he became very unwell. He was not eating properly, had been vomiting, was struggling to groom himself and has severe dental problems. Unfortunately, after three days, the treatment provided has not improved his condition and, if anything, he appears to be getting worse.
When I called today to explain that the treatment had not worked and ask whether he could be reassessed, I was told by the female receptionist I spoke to that I should be “grateful” that Gatehouse had even seen a stray cat in the first place. I was also told that if they helped every stray animal, they would end up in debt and it would not be good for the business, and that I would have to pay another consultation fee for him to be seen again.
I was also told that other vets in Bradford apparently would not even look at stray cats, regardless of whether someone was prepared to pay for treatment. I found this a very strange and upsetting thing to be told when I was simply asking for help for an animal whose condition had not improved.
What upset me most was being advised that I should “abandon” the cat and leave him to it, on the basis that he has probably had numerous problems because he has been a stray for a long time and nobody had cared for or neutered him.
I completely understand that veterinary practices are businesses and that treatment cannot always be provided for free. I was not asking for free treatment. I had already paid £125 and was prepared to discuss and pay for appropriate treatment.
What I expected was some compassion and basic reassurance that, because the treatment had not worked and the animal was deteriorating, he should be reassessed and that I could be told what the next steps and costs would be.
A stray animal is still an animal deserving of compassion. In many cases, stray animals need help because nobody else is looking after them.
I sincerely hope this was an individual’s poor choice of words rather than the policy or attitude of the practice. If it is the practice’s policy, then I strongly believe it needs reconsidering.
I am leaving this feedback because I would not want somebody else who is trying to rescue an injured or seriously ill stray animal to experience the same level of discouragement when they are already doing everything they can to help.
GemGem deserves better. 🐾💔
Always polite and caring
I highly recommend Gatehouse to anyone I speak to as every interaction I have ever had with them has been great. No task is too big and all the staff seem to go over and above expectations, and all with a smile on their faces. Even my pooch is happy to come to the Allerton Surgery as we are always greeted with very happy friendly members of staff 😁
THEY KILLED MY BABY THEY ARE A MONEY MAKING PLACE!
believe my cat’s death was the direct result of negligence at your practice.
My cat was given an injection despite staff stating they did not know what was wrong with her. We were not allowed to be present in the room during this procedure. My cat was extremely fearful and would never allow an injection without distress, which leads me to believe she was handled roughly to administer it.
Before this injection, my cat was alert and appeared stable. A scan was carried out, and we were told everything looked fine. She was then sent home. Shortly after, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and when we returned to the practice, she was clearly dying. She was left unattended for approximately five minutes without urgent care.
No clear explanation was given as to how or why she died. The staff present appeared very young and inexperienced, which further raises concerns about the level of care provided.
And they had the nerve to say u need to pay a bill after she died that was 600.
As a result of this, I have lost my beloved pet. My family and I are devastated, and we will be escalating this matter to the appropriate authorities and pursuing legal action.
Found a stray kitten. Hubby said why don’t we keep it and spoke to some from gatehouse and was referred to pink claws. They responded so rudely. Please people stay away from these lot. There just there for money not care for animals
